RETROGRADE CAMPAIGN
If you smell a warm coffee aroma while walking down Main Street, Sebastopol, it has likely come from our beloved coffee shop, Retrograde Coffee Roasters. As big fans ourselves, we were excited to work with their team. We worked closely with co-owners Danielle and Casey to create a Go Fund Me campaign video, which portrayed their brand goals. As a bonus, we produced social media deliverables for advertising purposes.
OUR STORY
This project highlights the culture of commitment and care at Retrograde Coffee Roasters. The compassionate staff, engagement with customers, and overall focused environment make this shop stand out, not to mention their delicious beverages.
CROWDFUNDING
The goal of our first campaign with Retrograde Coffee Roasters was to advertise for crowd-funding. We used this video to explain why and how Retrograde hopes to expand their shop, aiming to create a bigger, more welcoming environment for the endless local fans.
PRE
First, we sat down with Danielle and Casey to hear their ultimate goals and ask them any clarifying questions. They needed funding in order to expand their shop and sought to tell the community why this would be a positive investment. We asked Danielle and Casey to explain why Retrograde Coffee Roasters is the best of the best, and then used that outline to guide our interviews and B-Roll shots.
PROD
We soon realized that filming in the early morning or late afternoon was best to avoid interfering with business. We began at 6 PM, when the shop closed, and resumed the next day at 5 AM before the first wave of customers. During that time, we talked with the Retrograde employees about their experience in the shop. We were amazed by the staff’s ability to articulate the shop’s vision.
POST
Once we started organizing the footage, we realized we could create a brand story video along with the crowd-funding video. By creating both, we provided more value to our client. We understood that the campaign video would soon be irrelevant, once they reached their goal, but a brand story video could be used for as long as they wanted.
