Recent Work from Brown Barn Films
It has been a busy month at Brown Barn Films.
We recently completed two very different video projects for Visit Santa Rosa and Family Tree Farms, spent three days filming new content for Brassfield Estate Winery, and launched a new service designed to help Sonoma County brands create professional photo and video content more consistently.
This is the first in a series of occasional updates where we’ll share recent projects, behind-the-scenes stories, and what we’re building at Brown Barn Films.
Filming Harvest at Brassfield Estate Winery
We recently spent three days at Brassfield Estate Winery filming harvest, winemaking, and trade-focused content.
The production took us throughout the estate, from the vineyards of the High Valley AVA to the winery’s production facilities and caves. We’re currently working through the footage and can’t wait to share the finished videos.
This project is a great example of the winery video production we love creating: cinematic visuals grounded in the people, place, and process behind the wine.
Capturing Santa Rosa in 30 Seconds
Visit Santa Rosa approached us with a difficult creative challenge: capture the experience of visiting Santa Rosa in just 30 seconds.
The resulting tourism commercial moves quickly through the city’s food, wine, hospitality, recreation, and surrounding landscapes. It was designed to introduce Santa Rosa to travelers in cities with direct flights to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport and position the city as a gateway to California Wine Country.
Creating the campaign required us to condense a wide range of experiences into a fast-paced commercial that still felt cohesive, inviting, and true to Santa Rosa.

Celebrating 25 Years of Family Tree Farms
Our project for Family Tree Farms required a completely different approach.
We spent three days filming in Reedley, California, to create a documentary-style brand film celebrating the family-owned fruit company’s 25th anniversary.
Through interviews, agricultural footage, and moments with multiple generations of the family, the film explores the history, values, and people behind Family Tree Farms. It also highlights the company’s long-standing commitment to growing exceptionally flavorful fruit.
Rather than trying to communicate everything in a few seconds, this project gave us room to slow down and tell a more personal story about family, hard work, faith, and innovation.

Two Very Different Approaches to Brand Storytelling
The Visit Santa Rosa and Family Tree Farms projects could not have been more different.
One was a fast-paced commercial designed to capture a destination in 30 seconds. The other was a documentary-driven brand film built around the 25-year history of a family business.
Both, however, represent the kind of work we love creating.
Every business has a different story, audience, and objective. Our job is to find the right creative approach for each project, whether that means producing a concise commercial campaign or developing a more emotional, character-driven film.
